over and under the last 12 years florian has plotted a zig zag course through all things design: logos, web sites, information graphics, software, motion graphics, video and movie editing, type, books, furniture, product design and architectural spaces. throughout this time he has helped people in and outside of corporations to communicate more openly, honestly and effectively.
"if you don’t understand the problem, the solution isn't design." florian fangohr has developed award-winning design projects internationally. he was active with a web start-up and media production in germany in the 1990s and acted as lead designer for mtv's german web site. in 1998 he worked with fork.de on the design of hotwired's rgb gallery, which won the american center for design award for best 100 web sites. after a move to san francisco, florian created book, interactive and collateral designs for hot studio. in 2000 he helped establish the type collaborative typebox and co-founded mr~acorn with john weir. the studio that designed the international herald tribune’s web site. since 2000 florian lives in new york, where he has lead creative work on several projects, including reebok's global web sites. he art directed mtv's music service urge and gave face to the new urban brand, rbk. florian's personal projects include a narrative map of new york based on his 9/11 experiences (commissioned by the german art directors club) and exhibitions with sculptor carlos ancalmo florian has shared his experience by co-teaching at the school of visual arts and critiquing design and interior design and at pratt, sva and parsons.
